Situated in the lovely rolling hills of former ranches and farms, Frisco has become one of North Texas' most vibrant, sought-after communities for residential and commercial relocation. This former small farming community had less than 1,000 residents in the 1970s, but had grown to just over 6,000 residents in 1990. The city now hosts a population of more than 55,000. The North Central Texas Council of Governments estimates the city grew nearly 28 percent between 1999 and 2000 one of the most explosive growth rates of any city in the 16-county region. Frisco is located in Collin County, which along with neighboring Denton County, has been ranked in the top five metropolitan growth counties in the United States. Frisco city planning officials estimate the population will grow to more than 67,000 residents by 2010. Average annual household income is $71,114, according to NCTCG, with 82.3 percent possessing at least a high school diploma or some higher education. Approximately 6 percent of the population is age 65 or older.
